Rogue Pentagon Officials Thwart White House Efforts to Close Guantanamo

"US Defense Department officials have used several tactics to delay or stop prisoners from leaving the Guantanamo Bay prison since US President Barack Obama took office in January 2009, when he signed an executive order to close the facility.

"In my view, this behavior cannot be characterized as anything other than intentional. This is just more proof that the Defense Department is preventing the closure of Guantanamo."

"Farah [Omar Farah, a lawyer for Guantanamo detainee Tariq Ba Odah] said that in order to fulfill his pledge and finally close the prison during his final year in office, Obama must use his executive powers to force the intervention of the Department of Justice, which could issue court orders forcing the Defense Department to comply with the release of prisoners."

"I don't know where to start and that's not a good thing. We can begin with the break in relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Anyone who doesn't have a sneaking feeling that they are working in concert to bolster crashing crude oil prices is too stupid to live.

"Then again, just out of suspicion, perhaps because of bad brain chemistry, I tend to look at this Oregon thing and think "3fer" with Jade Helm and San Bernadino. Let's remember, this is the Jade Helmster gang, all involved in a well organized and well financed scam that left them all burned. In a world with real problems, too utter assholes that decided they could start unsupervised fires on federal land and not go to prison just don't matter.

"The US staged a coup, really an invasion of Ukraine overthrowing an elected pro-Russian government where 55% of the country was taken over with 40% remaining at war and Crimea voting to join Russia... The war never ended, it is going on now. How then was a government in Kiev "fairly elected" if the war was never finished?"

What is real adversity and hardship?

"Every time I listen to some announcer, coach, reporter, or player discuss either preparing for a big game or discussing the outcome of major game, the minute they throw around how much adversity so-and-so had to endure, I want to reach through my 60″ television and strangle those over-glorified Neanderthals.

"According to Pablo S. Torre in a 2009 edition of Sports Illustrated, an estimated 78 percent of NFL players are bankrupt or facing serious financial stress within two years of ending their playing careers and that 60 percent of NBA players are broke within five years of retiring from the game.

"Real adversity and hardship is faced every day by a Veteran or someone in the military, and I haven't even brought up the adverse conditions they face on the battlefield. Surely seeking out terrorists under today's politically correct rules of engagement, IED's, along with dodging bullets, create more adversity and hardship than 95% of Americans will ever face."
