A group of people gathered at Ōkahu Bay in Auckland to conduct a karanga to highlight the desecration of the Hawaiian mountain Mauna Kea.

According to Precious Clark, "We felt uplifted. Tāwhirimātea was present this morning and we also saw a spotted a seal. That's a good sign."

TMT continue to construct the $1.4bil telescope on the summit of Mauna Kea leaving the people of Hawai'i in disappointment. Protest against the construction of the telescope has resulted in a number of arrests. Sadly some of the arrests have been made by Hawaiian officers themselves.

Dr Keanu Sai says, "The state of Hawai'i is not a foreign entity, it's our own people. The police officers that go up there that had to do the arrests are Hawaiian."

Native Hawaiians believe that Mauna Kea is an example of reawakening their true status to the land.
