Make Easy Wire Dangles for Your Beadweaving Projects and More!
August 1, 2011

How easy is this? Take a couple of beads and string them on a head pin. Make a wrapped loop, and you've got one of the most versatile components for jewelry making and beading projects that you can imagine. (Next to my favorite peyote-stitch beaded beads, of course!) A wire dangle with a couple of beautiful beads can be used for much more than earrings. Read More . . .

Victorian Infinity Necklace

My Victorian Infinity Necklace was inspired by an antique seed pearl necklace.

I can remember how much I loved trying on my mother's and my grandmother's jewelry when I was a little girl. (I think most little girls love to do that, right?) But my fascination with vintage and antique jewelry continued once I got older. While I certainly fell victim to more than one crazy fashion jewelry trend (rubber bracelets, anyone?), I always found that I loved to shop for and wear vintage and antique jewelry. My parents would take us to a weekly antique market on Sunday afternoons where we would walk around and look at all sorts of items - glass, clothing, books and housewares. Expert Advice About Your Favorite Beading Tools and Jewelry Making Supplies, Plus 3 Free Projects!
August 5, 2011

Some of my tools are quite simple - I have a couple of wooden dowels that I've used for years to provide support when I do beading stitches such as African helix or tubular right-angle weave. But it's important to know which beading tool is the right tool for the jewelry-making task at hand. Read More . . .

My Chain-Maille Adventure, Part 2: Dubious Weave Chain

August 1, 2011

Well, I finally did it. I finally sat down with pliers and a million little jump rings and did chain maille. And I survived! If you've been reading Jewelry Making Daily for awhile, you know that I've resisted chain maille every time I had to, not because I don't like it (in fact, I'm kind of in awe of it and those of you who do it), but because I simply don't have the patience for it. Super detailed, "commitment" crafts like hand quilting, chain maille, bead weaving . . . they're gorgeous and impressive but simply not for me. Or so I thought. Read more . . .
